The above property was sold through your company back in July but due to traveling and settling in the UK I have been unable to write to you until now.
As you will appreciate the experience of selling ones home is not particularly a pleasant one, it is an intrusion into your life and your own private environment, which is why the choice of agent was paramount to me. I wanted to feel completely comfortable and at ease with the person, know I could rely on them and that they would respect my home and me. I visited several agents before coming to your Sliema office and was not impressed with any of them.
I was immediately taken with Alex Schembri and so arranged a time for him to come and assess our property; my partner shared the same opinion on meeting him at our home. After completing his inspection he requested to call his manager, for confirmation of the quote he would give us to market our home. James arrived within 10 minutes and both my partner and I instantly took to him as well. Both have a very easy, quietly confident and respectful manner too many sales people are 'in your face' and have neither the patience nor interest to listen to anything the customer has to say they simply want you 'on board' as fast as possible.
The choice of agent would be entirely mine, as my partner would be working abroad for the majority of time that our apartment was to be on the market. So, as I have mentioned before, I wanted to be able to approach my agent as often as I felt necessary without fear of feeling I was wasting their time. I was fussy and I wanted, and expected, the service that was promised me and for which we were paying a substantial fee. There were quite a few occasions when 'I wanted this' or 'I didn't like that', I wanted it done 'this way' and I didn't like 'that being said' and I have no doubt that Alex might well have 'rolled his eyes' at times but, and this is the all important point, I would never have known it. Not at any time did Alex give the slightest hint that what I was saying was inconsequential or an interruption, he was always attentive, co-operative, patient and extremely helpful that is the key to good service, which unfortunately is so lacking in many these days.
Sadly the buyer for our property came through another office but even then Alex had a hand in directing these clients to us. As I understand it, although they were looking for a 3-bed and ours was a 2-bed, when asked about properties in our area by another agent Alex immediately offered ours for an option as a 'must see' and because of its high specification - the rest is history.
The time then came for the signing of the preliminary agreement and I was extremely nervous about it, my partner was away and I felt very uncomfortable about the whole meeting. Whilst I realise it was all very routine for people such as yourselves, anything 'legal' made me quite jumpy and I telephoned Alex and relayed these concerns. Although he had no obligation to do so he immediately offered to accompany me and drove me to the meeting, stayed the course, which was considerably longer than we all thought, and drove me home again. It is also worth mentioning at this point that James had also offered to come with me but had a last minute commitment. He had, however, spoken with my partner on the 'phone prior to the meeting putting his mind at rest and thus mine.
Alex has none of the brash, cocky, arrogant characteristics, which, quite frankly, are immediately off-putting and do nothing to instill one with confidence at the job being done efficiently, and never did he create an air of 'wheeler dealing', so often present these days. A final touch was telephoning us before we vacated the property and wishing us well for the future.
All too often we, the customer, are quick to complain but extremely slow to commend; this is an occasion when I feel taking the time to do the latter is well deserved.
