Between 2004 and 2007, the Company was run by two sisters.  Gabi Cuschieri consolidated her 30 years experience in the company to strengthen the Sales section of the business. Marie Therese Zammit managed the back office Operations.  Gabi and Marie Therese both sat on the Board of Directors, and in line with modern corporate governance, the Company brought in two non-executive Directors on the Board, Dr Simon Tortell, who is the Chairman, and Lino Spiteri.  Thomas Zammit took over as Director of Operations and Company Secretary following Ms. Zammit’s resignation in October 2007.  An important period of management and operational restructuring has led to a more efficient combination of employee skills, product choice and services to better meet the ever-changing requirements of today’s customer needs. 

Elektra’s client base is as diverse as its products, providing updates and training on Electrical Technology and new products to electrical contractors, to the retail trade, as well as to consumers, Elektra is also a major supplier to parastatal enterprises and private companies in the leading sectors of the Maltese economy.  Although it is best known for its lighting expertise, Elektra is much more than a supplier of lights.  To maintain its position as one of Malta’s market leaders, trained and well-qualified staff head its six business units – each with its own product line and specific clientele. 

Elektra’s challenge is to be different.  It stands out as a bright and enthusiastic enterprise which is always seeking to create the ideal environment it feels electrical distributors should provide for their clientele. At the same time its solutions adhere to the quality and safety standards that are essential ingredients of the electrical distributor’s market.  Competition in Malta, while fierce and noteworthy, is small and no longer considered enough.  Elektra’s vision goes beyond the local, flourishing market.  Together with its selective suppliers base Elektra can and will continually strive to achieve even greater success than it has enjoyed in its first 30 years of being.
